Yoga and Pilates

Yoga and Pilates are a major part of my life and have been for a long time. The 2 techniques compliment each other and bring such diversity that they accommodate, challenge and heal people from all walks of life. I feel very blessed to be able to marry the 2 lineages and bring my unique teaching practice to many different age groups and abilities.

Yoga

Yoga found me in a time of need. My body was damaged and in pain from my career as a fitness Instructor. My athletic body was crying out for deeper liberation of my tight muscles! BodyBalance became a favourite class to teach and then I discovered Ashtanga Vinyasa, as a student. My first weeks of attending class were stressful to say the least. I had never felt such pain and discomfort as I tried to adapt to the new positions, however I felt a connection to my physicality that I had never experienced before. It was crying out for help and I knew that I needed to persevere. At the same time in my life I was on a fast track to understanding a newfound spiritual path and I devoured books on self healing and inner depth. Yoga had become a light which I needed to shine.

In 2012 I spent 3 months in Rishikesh, India, studying Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary and Secondary Sequence, alongside Pranayama, Meditation and Yoga Nidra.  It changed my life. Yoga BECAME my life. I never looked back and since then have taught Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow classes all over the world. It's my personal practice, my meditation and my soul healing. My years of teaching Group Fitness enabled me to instruct, correct, cue and engage with love. My teaching style is warm, friendly and informative.....my soul smiles deeply when I practice but it sings with LOVE when I teach yoga.

Pilates

I qualified as a Matwork Pilates teacher in 1999 with Michael King (in person), who trained under the Joseph Pilates lineage. I later attended the intense Level 2 Matwork Course but unfortunately didn't receive the qualification due to a very challenging personal time in my life. The depth of knowledge I have from both courses remains though and I use it on a weekly basis.  25 years later with numerous other workshops under my belt, my style has diversified to include both Contemporary and Traditional Pilates techniques, alongside my love for singing and having fun in class!! I adore the benefits and healing I see happen in the bodies and minds of my students. From the advanced practitioner who moves easily from move to move, the post pregnant woman who reignites her core muscles to the injured who heal and learn to soar again. Teaching people how to achieve fabulous posture, strong cores and amazing mobilisation through this wonderful technique is a mind blowing experience.
